Did you know you can now have your D4 Driver Medical at CTS?
To obtain or renew your Group 2 (category C/category D) license, you need to have a D4 medical with a registered doctor.
How much does a D4 Driver Medical cost?
Medicals are £80 including VAT.
How Often Do You Need a D4 Driver Medical?
According to the DVLA, if you are a professional driver, you must have medical exams at specific times:
- The first medical is at the start of your career.
- From age 45, you need a medical every five years until you turn 65.
- After age 65, you need a medical every year.
What should you bring to your medical?
- Your D4 Medical Form
- Photo ID
- Glasses or contacts if you use them, and a recent prescription
- Details of any medication that you’re currently taking
- A copy of your medical history from your GP
What will happen during your medical?
When you come for your D4 driver medical, you’ll fill out a medical history questionnaire and complete a physical exam. The exam includes:
- Eyesight Test: You’ll do an eye test using a Snellen chart to make sure your vision meets the standards.
- Blood Pressure Check: Your blood pressure will be checked to ensure it meets the DVLA standards.
- Medical History: You’ll answer questions about various medical conditions like epilepsy, seizures, insulin-treated diabetes, and other health issues. Some conditions are okay if they’re managed properly.
Based on your medical history, medications, and exam results, our doctor will fill out your D4 form. The whole process usually takes about 15-20 minutes.
After your medical, send the completed D4 form along with your application form and driving licence to the DVLA.
