How much Driver CPC training is needed?
You must do 35 hours of CPC training every 5 years. The 35 hours do not need to be taken all at once, you can split this throughout the 5 years. It is advised to sit one 7 hour course a year to keep up with rules and regulations in our forever changing industry.
If you do not do the appropriate hours that are needed you will be seen as driving professionally without driver CPC and can be fined up to £1000!!!
Once you have done the CPC training you will get a certificate of attendance and the training centre will upload your training hours onto your driver CPC record which can be checked by clicking on this link –

What happens next?
When you have done 35 hours of periodic training within the 5 years you will then receive your driver qualification card.
If you are driving a lorry, bus or coach professionally and do not have your card with you, you can receive a £50 fixed penalty.
The card will be sent to the address on your driving licence so it is very important that you check your details are up to date on your driving licence before the training takes place.

A 7 hour course is split into two 3.5 hour modules. The 2 modules will be chosen from the following –

- Driver Hours
- Economical Driving
- Health & Safety
- Licence, Weights & Dimensions
- Security
- Tachograph
- Tiredness, Diet and Lifestyle
Other courses which can include CPC hours are –
